First impressions matter. Jo says the first thing she looks for is a well-presented CV. "Make sure it's clear, concise, and highlights your relevant skills and experience. And don't forget to complete our application fully – it's your chance to shine!"
Read the job advert carefully. Jo emphasised the importance of understanding the role and its requirements. "The most common mistake I see is candidates applying for roles that aren't right for them," she says. So, before you hit that "apply" button, make sure you're a good fit!
Know your stuff. At Rentokil Initial, we value people who are organised, passionate, and can work at pace. Show us you've got what it takes! If you've worked for a large, global company, even better – you'll likely have the skills and experience we're looking for.
Ditch the cover letter. Jo's advice? "Skip the cover letter! Instead, focus on making your CV stand out. Keep it concise, accurate, and tailored to the specific role you're applying for."
Be prepared to interview. Jo stresses the importance of interview prep. Expect questions around project management, stakeholder management, and prioritisation. "And please be flexible regarding an interview," she adds. "You will need to find time in your schedule to do so."
