1 x Automation Developer- Cape Town

There are 2 main components to this role. You will be involved in the development, deployment and support of  business applications, tools and process automation using Google and other Cloud Based platforms (incl. Mobile).  You will be required to work extensively with Google BigQuery to extract data to distribute to the business for analysis and power Data Studio dashboards.

In both of these functions you will need to contribute to the design, planning and delivery of these solutions, including, but not exclusively, business requirement gathering, management of project priority lists and plans. The position also requires the production and presentation of monthly reports on project status and developments.

Knowledge transfer is critical in this role and you will work closely with both the project stakeholders and IT teams to ensure that they can conduct their own training within their departments and can provide configuration and first line support independently. This will require you to produce the necessary documentation, handover material and training to ensure their success.

You will form part of a broader team that has team members based locally in South Africa, Kenya and the UK and you will need to be able to collaborate and work with team members from all 3 locations.

The position is currently a hybrid remote setup and you will be required to spend some days at the office but full use of collaboration technology such as Google G Suite is expected to be the default to deliver low cost deployment. Some travel for deployments, training etc may also be required.

Requirements:

1. Design, Develop & Support Google cloud based applications and automations using Javascript, JQuery & HTML

2. Write and automate MySQL queries and pipelines to extract data from Google BigQuery and deliver it to the business

3. Build and Deploy Google Data Studio (Looker) dashboard to deliver insights to the business

4. Project Scoping and requirements gathering in support of Business Analysts

5. Presentation of monthly project status and application usage reports

6. Knowledge transfer to the individual businesses, local development team & tools

7. One-on-One and group training of end users on tools and applications

8. IT operations, process & infrastructure support 

9. Lead the Development capability within the IT Function

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Strong experience developing in JavaScript, JQuery + HTML, CSS
• Strong experience developing in MySQL
• Experience building dashboards in DataStudio (Looker) or similar
• Agile based (“Scrum”) Project management
• Documentation - Procedures, work instructions and user guides
• Strong analytical skills 
• Good presentation skill
• Team player with strong verbal and written communication skills  
• Ability to interact with the business at all levels
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Advanced G Suite & Google Admin (Desired)
• Ability to work unsupervised essential 
• Problem Solve

QUALIFICATIONS and  EXPERIENCE

• 3 Year Degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent practical experience
• Minimum 3 Year of experience developing in Javascript front and back end
• Minimum 3 Year of experience developing in MySQL
• Experience with business process automation
• Experience with Google Cloud Technologies - desirable
• Experience with Google G-Suite especially Sheet - desirable
