Ambius is the world leader in providing interior landscaping services for a range of customers from boutique hotels, to shopping centres. We use planting, scenting, flowers, artwork and exterior landscaping maintenance to improve the environment for the benefit of the customer and their employees. We have central support functions of Human Resources, IT, Finance, Legal and Marketing & Innovation in the Rentokil Initial Head Office locations and in the country.

Requirements:

The effective and efficient supervision including planning, organizing, leading and controlling of the Company Resources. You will be generally responsible for new installations and atrium management, specialist upgrading, cleaning and pruning tasks, water feature installation and any other work as directed by your Manager.

Key Outputs and Accountability

  • Productivity as per company requirements
  • Standards of service as per company requirements.
  • Observation of Company philosophy in all dealings with service staff and the public at large.
  • Compliance with the Company Health and Safety policy to safeguard the health of your own employees, as well as the public and the environment in general.
  • Promotion and enhancement of the Company image in all aspects involving personal appearance of the service staff, Company uniforms, vehicle standards, appearance of service storage, warehouse & office areas, condition of equipment, quality of documentation.
  • To be technically competent and fully conversant of the complete range of Ambius.
  • To be aware of competitor’s activity. Information should be fed to your Field Supervisor timeously.
  • To ensure personal contact with your client base in your branch and ensure that they receive good quality service.
  • To ensure that your team reports for training as per the Technical and Quality Assurance Department’s schedule.
  • To attend regular service meetings with your manager and service staff to discuss and review individual and group performances.
  • To ensure that your team members carry out horticultural operations to a high standard as set out by your manager.
  • To ensure that your Team reports for work on time and that they are organized to carry out their duties as directed.
  • To keep the vehicles under your control, clean and check daily as directed.
  • To control the use of all equipment issued to you. To report loss of equipment by breakage or theft. To ensure that equipment is well maintained at all times.
  • To ensure that your Team is well dressed and adhere to Rentokil Work Practices at all times.
  • To report bad conduct, by any member of your Team.
  • To schedule a leave programme with your Team Members ensuring that only one member of your team is absent at any given time
  • To ensure your Team works an eight hour day.
  • To keep records as instructed by your Manager.

Plant Replacements

  • To ensure correct documentation completed for plant replacements,
  • assess the reason for plant replacement to ensure your team understands and is compliant with prevention of plant replacements.
  • Assist/Guide plant replacement operations and ensure that replacements arrive at their destination.

Pots and Preps

  • To assist with requirements of pots required/sold by the business which could include the delivery and collection thereof.
  • To assist with possible collections of stones, bark, pebbles and plants if required.
  • To liaise with the sales consultants on installation requirements.

Installations

  • Assist with installations, prep thereof and ensure that the installations arrive at their destination and installed as per schedule.
  • To conduct quality assurance checks as required.

Branch Administration

  • To ensure your team is fully compliant with all Ambius documentation – service cards, installation documents and all other relevant documentation
  • To carry out weekly checks on equipment quality and tool availability for each technician and to immediately report stolen or broken equipment to your manager.
  • To assist with the warehouse, the rotation and upkeep of the plants.
  • To effectively control your team members in the rapid dispatch of the morning deliveries and schedules.
  • The team must leave the branch office by 08h00 at the latest, excluding training mornings.

Reporting System

  • To make contact with the client during your field visit and answer his/her queries to a high standard.
  • To be present at the branch office at 07h30 every morning to ensure your team members are effective in their duties.
  • Ensure that plant returns are positioned in their correct cages on return to the branch office at the end of your day’s schedule.

Staff

  • To comply with procedures documented in Technical Manuals and to ensure that new technicians are fully conversant and comply with procedures.
  • To be aware of the in-Company service training schemes and to ensure that each member of your team is assisted with training to handle their job efficiently. You will be expected to practically demonstrate tasks and reinforce on0-site training throughout your team.

Staff Supervision, Control and Motivation

  • To enlighten service staff on the advantages of planned working, economical use of vehicles, correct use of preparations and materials and maintenance of equipment.
  • Should one of your team members have a problem, ensure that they have the opportunity to communicate with management on any problems or complaints which may affect the efficiency of their performances.
  • To control the productivity of your service technician by regularly providing information on their achievements.
  • To provide the positive leadership and motivation to ensure good team work from your team and the striving for high quality performance and customer satisfaction.

Security of Company assets and documentation

  • To ensure adequate security and safeguard of the Company or leased premises, including all Company assets, equipment, vehicles, etc.
  • To safeguard confidential documents of the Company, including contract portfolios, works programmes and other computer printouts as well as all technical and service manuals and to ensure that all documents no longer needed are shredded.

Compliance with health and safety policy

  • To ensure that your service staff utilize preparations, materials and equipment strictly in accordance with Company policy and in particular with the health and safety code of conduct.

Qualifications

  • Horticulture Certificate preferred
  • Leadership, client interaction
  • People and communication skill
  • Knowledge of competitor and competitor activity
  • Matric certificate or equivalent
  • Previous Customer facing experience
  • Knowledge of competitor and competitor activity
  • Valid unendorsed code 08 or 10 with PDP drivers license (Experienced driver 3 years minimum) ESSENTIAL

Qualities and Attributes

  • Good physical health to perform duties outlined above
  • Good communication skills (written/verbal/non-verbal)
  • Good time management skills to efficiently perform daily duties without supervision
  • High standards of personal hygiene / appearance
