Director of Group Insurance and Risk Management

Administer and develop an innovative and flexible approach to the Company’s Risk Management strategy focused on world-wide risk transfer and funding programmes.

Responsibilities 

• Negotiate risk transfer contracts world-wide, including wordings as well as terms and prices
• Ensure that the methods/techniques used (self-insurance, captive reinsurance, alternative risk fundings, etc) are fully appropriate to the Company’s position and respond to the changing dynamics of the business
• Review cost/benefit of current strategies and investigate alternatives
• Develop new approaches to Risk transfer and funding that are more cost-effective, including a philosophy of Risk Retention that meets corporate and operational needs
• Develop and mature a thorough understanding of the regional businesses and cultures, ensure these are arranged to meet their needs and those of Rentokil
• Ensure that all risk contract wordings accurately reflect the protection needed, make recommendations for improvement to counter parties and negotiate the changes at optimum cost/benefit
• Manage relationships with third parties including brokers, insurers and re-insurers; this will extend from their selection (using necessary criteria) through their service abilities and finally, as required, termination in an appropriate manner
• Develop links with peers across the Insurance and Risk profession that enable benchmarking of the company’s approach and innovation
• Provide a central source of information regarding Insurance and Risk across the Group
• Oversight and responsibility of global claims and associated loss control strategies
• Liaise with internal and external parties to develop a global integrated claims management solution supporting the company’s culture and mitigating reputational risk
• Review emerging risks to ensure these are considered and assessed against the insurance strategy
• Negotiation of insurance clauses for supply and other contracts
• Support for the Groups M&A programme, focused on insurance due diligence and providing necessary advise
• Leadership of the Group Risk Team, with US and UK based colleagues
  
  
  

Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience

Essential 

• Graduate
• Detailed technical knowledge of Insurance Law and Practice
• Member of the Chartered Insurance Practitioner with Chartered Insurance Institute qualifications or Institute of Risk Management qualifications 
• At least 10 years experience of world insurance markets.
• Knowledge of leading-edge approaches to Insurance and Risk gained with major plc, broker or insurance company
• Demonstrates high integrity
• Ability to deliver results 
• Manages self, remaining calm, focused and optimistic
