French Translation and Communications Specialist

Job Summary

This role will provide broad-based French communications translation support to Rentokil Canada and its 3 lines of business including Rentokil, Steritech and Ambius Canada, on a full-time basis. In addition, translation support will be required for internal program areas and departments within the organization across North America. 

This includes, but is not limited to, producing, reviewing and editing a variety of content in both English and French and project managing all aspects of content translation and other key communications initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Translate a variety of written material such as correspondence, reports, legal documents, technical specifications, training material, and textbooks from one language to another, maintaining the content, context, and style of the original material to the greatest extent possible
• Able to prioritize tasks based on urgency and company needs across all lines of business
• Localize software and accompanying technical documents to adapt them to another language and culture
• Revise and correct translated material
• Provide translation support for voice-overs, subtitles, Word, PDF, PowerPoint, XML, XLIFF and HTML files.
• Knowledge of, and participate in, OQLF compliance initiatives across all businesses.
• Ability to Identify the terminology used in a field of activity
• Conduct terminological research on a given subject or in response to inquiries for the preparation of glossaries, terminology banks, technological files, dictionaries, lexicons, and resource centres, and add to terminological databases
• Work with the Communications Department as required to provide high-quality English to French and French to English translations for all digital and printed materials of the society – including, but not limited to, statements, governance documents, motions, minutes, presentations, newsletters, and website and social media content;
• Consult subject-matter experts and other colleagues to understand specialized concepts and translate them appropriately;
• Translate marketing content, from English to French and French to English, for both online and offline channels including web/digital, social media, video scripts (i.e. closed captioning), newsletters, information sheets, print and digital ads, press releases, job postings, etc.
• Translate training material in digital /online format
• Review and edit externally translated materials to ensure accuracy, consistent language use, and alignment with national messaging.
• Adhere to branding standards and guidelines to ensure a consistent and customer-friendly tone and voice for communications.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of professional translation communications experience within a corporate, public sector or agency environment
• Strong communications generalist, with experience supporting strategies and campaigns that focus on strong internal and external customer service orientation,
• Complete fluency in both English and French (both written and verbal)
• Knowledge of the structure and content of English and French languages, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar, and pronunciation.
• Relevant experience in language editing and/or proofreading
• Demonstrated project management experience, an asset
• Demonstrated strong translation and writing skills (in both English and French), for range of communications channels and formats, including: online, media materials, presentations, newsletters
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
