Main Purposes of the role:
The role will be part of a team responsible for ensuring that day to day network operations run smoothly across the regions. This will include monitoring the environment and responding to incidents and problems as they arise and performing preventative maintenance where necessary.
Day to day activities will include responding to requests to perform changes and maintenance to the network in line with global standards.
Adherence to ITIL process and procedures alongside global standards is essential.
- The role will work closely with other regional and global resources. The role will also incorporate project and design work as overflow from the Network specialist team.
In this role you will be responsible for: - As required, it produces outline system designs and specifications, and overall architectures, topologies, configuration databases and design documentation of networks and networking technology within the organisation. Specifies user/system interfaces, including validation and error correction procedures, processing rules, access, security and audit controls. Assesses associated risks, and specifies recovery routines and contingency procedures. Translates logical designs into physical designs.
- Monitors service delivery performance metrics and liaises with managers and customers to ensure that service level agreements are not breached without the stakeholders being given the opportunity of planning for a deterioration in service.
- Carries out agreed operational procedures, including network configuration, installation and maintenance. Uses network management tools to collect and report on network load and performance statistics. Contributes to the implementation of maintenance and installation work. Uses standard procedures and tools to carry out defined system backups, restoring data where necessary. Identifies operational problems and contributes to their resolution.
- Identifies and resolves complex network problems following agreed procedures. Uses network management software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics. Carries out agreed network maintenance tasks.
- Provides technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures. Uses network management tools to determine network load and performance statistics. Contributes to the planning and implementation of maintenance and installation work. Implements agreed network changes and maintenance routines. Identifies operational problems and contributes to their resolution, checking that they are managed in accordance with agreed standards and procedures. Provides reports and proposals for improvement to specialists, users and managers.
- Uses network management tools to produce management information on capacity and utilisation and investigate issues where necessary.
- Carries out routine audits and checks to ensure adherence to policies and procedures. Facilitates the implementation of mandatory electrical safety testing.
- Acts as the routine contact point between organisation and supplier. Collects and reports on supplier performance data.
- Reviews capacity, performance, availability and other operational metrics and takes appropriate action to ensure corrective and proactive maintenance of storage and backup systems to support the requirement to protect business information.
- Creates reports and proposals for improvement and contributes to the planning and implementation of new installations and scheduled maintenance and changes within the system.
- Prepares and maintains operational procedures and provides technical expertise and appropriate information to the management.
- Take an active part in the ownership of the service that we deliver
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Minimum a Diploma in related discipline of studies with proven track record in IT computing environment
- 2- 4 years minimum experience working in an IT Network or similar IT operations support role at an advance level
Experience:
- Has good understanding of technologies used within the organisation
- Extensive experience of Cisco Routing and Switching, Cisco ASA, Aruba Switching & Wireless, Stingray traffic manager, VPN, DHCP, Aerohive WAP’s and Velocloud SD-WAN
- Experience of technologies wider than networks, Microsoft Server technologies, Linux, specifically around Proxy Servers, DHCP, DNS
- The ability to work across technology silos to resolve issues independently

- Has some knowledge of IT standards and codes of conduct.
