Rentokil Initial - Legal Counsel
£50,000 - £60,000 per annum depending on level of experience

This is an exciting opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join our team based from our office in Crawley. This role is a hybrid working role where home working will be expected as well.
This role is a full-time, permanent position with working hours from 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities
This role will primarily involve handling all legal matters related to our commercial contracts across all of our businesses. You will be responsible for ensuring that the necessary legal tasks are completed for contracts that are already in place or currently being negotiated. You will have your own caseload of matters to deal with.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist in reviewing, negotiating, and drafting commercial terms, contracts, and legal agreements (such as outsourcing agreements and procurement agreements) for various business projects.
- Conduct reviews on data privacy documents
- Assist the businesses in conducting commercial negotiations with end clients;
- Provide guidance on issues that arise, insured risks, and commercial queries, seeking assistance from the appropriate functions (insurance and finance) as needed.
- Provide engaging and informative training sessions to the business, covering a wide range of legal and contractual topics.
- Managing commercial disputes, resolving conflicts, and skillfully handling pre-litigation matters, small claims, drafting letters before action, and settlement agreements.
- Contribute to updating precedents and templates while actively participating in the improvement of processes and finding better ways of working.
- Occasionally work with the regional general counsel and / or external counsel on any arising issues.
Requirements:
Key Requirements
- A qualified lawyer in England & Wales, or any relevant jurisdiction with at least 3- 5 years PQE
- Ideally, the successful candidate will have trained in private practice and will also have some experience working in-house.
- Expertise in commercial and corporate matters.
- Strong attention to detail coupled with a genuine eagerness to learn and take proactive approach
- Having some familiarity with construction contracts, such as ones based on NEC, JCT, FIDIC, SBCC terms (or similar variations), would be advantageous.
- A strategic and creative thinker that possesses the ability to think quickly, identify and address legal issues, has experience working with incomplete information, and capable of suggesting courses of action in uncertain situations.
- A solid grasp of common corporate and commercial contracts, as well as general legal principles
- Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills to effectively manage internal stakeholder groups and establish lasting client relationships.
- Excellent written/verbal and influencing skills are required for this role. You should have a strong ability to positively influence the behaviour of multiple stakeholders in order to maintain a good legal and fiscal position for the company
- Enthusiastic about understanding our business and eager to contribute to more challenging legal matters.
- Able to effectively convey complex and technical legal concepts to a non-technical audience
