The role of a Technician

As a Technician, you’ll be servicing our customers across Edinburgh and the Lothians in a company van and therefore you need a UK driving licence to become one of our Technicians. Travel further afield may also be required, subject to workload.

What will you be doing?

● You will hack-off ceiling/wall plaster, strip and replace timber wall framing and partitions,  prior to installing damp proof courses and install cavity drainage membrane to industry standards

● You will be required to carry out our specialist condensation treatments which may include loft insulation, painting internal/external walls in our specialist coatings and installing thermal wall products.

● There may be an element of patch plastering involved in this role

● You will strip and replace timber floors (including splicing timber floor joists to preservation standards), carry out solum sealing, renew door frames, architraves, windows, sills and doors

● Splicing of roof timbers and specialist timber resin repairs

● Our specialist technicians also carry out basement waterproofing work, and structural defects repairs, such as wall tie installation and crack-stitching

Requirements:

We would love you to have:

● Preservation joinery experience

● An apprenticeship background, City and Guilds or NVQ qualifications (not essential)

● Experience working as a Joiner, Carpenter or a Preservation Technician

● Full UK Manual Driving Licence for at least 2 years with no more than 6 penalty points

● A can-do attitude, and able to use your own initiative in tricky situations

● Great communication and customer service skills with a keen, enthusiastic and friendly approach

Benefits:

● A competitive package of salary plus bonus, with realistic OTE £30,000 per annum

● Company van, fuel card, uniform and tools

● Monthly bonus scheme

● Sales lead commission

● Grading promotions that increase your basic salary based on your annual performance for the first three years

● RI Rewards (cashback and discounts on multiple retailers)
