Overview
The Lead Aerial Mechanic is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and inspection of all aerial equipment, including drones, and other aerial vehicles. This role ensures that all aerial equipment is maintained to the highest safety standards and operational efficiency. The Lead Aerial Mechanic will manage a team of mechanics, coordinate maintenance schedules, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
Perform and supervise scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on all aerial equipment.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and structural issues in aerial vehicles.
Ensure all repairs are performed efficiently and to the highest standards of safety and quality.
Assist manager of aircraft maintenance, mentor, and train a team of aerial mechanics.
Assign tasks, manage workloads, and ensure timely completion of maintenance activities.
Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Conduct regular inspections of aerial equipment to ensure compliance with FAA and other regulatory standards.
Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
Stay updated with regulatory changes and implement necessary updates in maintenance protocols.
Coordinate with the operations team to schedule maintenance activities without disrupting flight schedules.
Communicate effectively with pilots, manager of aircraft maintenance, and other stakeholders regarding the status of aerial equipment.
Develop and implement maintenance plans and schedules.
Oversee the inventory of parts, tools, and equipment required for maintenance and repairs.
Ensure timely procurement of necessary parts and manage relationships with suppliers.
Develop and enforce safety protocols and maintenance procedures.
Conduct safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
Promote a culture of safety and quality within the maintenance team.
Candidate Requirements
Must be computer literate and knowledgeable of the MS Office & Google suite of applications.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education
High school diploma or GED required.
Associate degree or technical certification in aviation maintenance or a related field preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in aerial maintenance required, prior experience is a lead or supervisory role is desirable.
Extensive experience with crop dusters, helicopters, drones, and other aerial equipment.
In-depth knowledge of aerial equipment maintenance practices, regulations, and industry standards.
Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic certificate required, IA certification attainable within 4 months of employment.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential function to this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Incumbent must be prepared to:
Ability to lift heavy objects (50 lbs) and work in physically demanding environments.
Ability to work in various weather conditions and at different heights.
Primarily operates in an aviation hangar environment.
May involve exposure to hazardous materials, loud noises, and moving mechanical parts.
Requires adherence to strict safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Sitting for long periods of time while using office equipment such as computers, phones and etc.
Performing repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and fingers, such as typing, picking, and pinching, within your regular work environment.
Express or exchange ideas with others through the use of spoken word, quickly, accurately, and at an easily audible volume, and receive detailed information through oral communication at usual speaking levels without correction, and/or make fine discriminations in the nature of sounds in the environment.
Incumbent is required to have:
Near-range visual acuity for detailed tasks and ability to perform activities with precision such as analyzing data, viewing computer screens or reading extensively.
Incumbent will be subject to:
Inside working conditions: The change of building environment such as with or without air conditioning and heating.
