What do our IT Infrastructure & Operations Director's do?
The purpose of the Director, IT Infrastructure & Operations role is to plan, organize and manage the efficient operation of data centers, networks and telephony, end user services, and all related technology and process in support of the business operations of Rentokil North America. This is achieved through the effective orchestration of people, processes, technology and service providers.
As a Director and an IT Leadership Team member, the person in this role will apply extensive knowledge of a broad range of technologies and best practices to ensure that IT Infrastructure is operating at optimum levels of effectiveness and creating value for the business. The Director, IT Infrastructure & Operations will develop and maintain collaborative, robust relationships with key business stakeholders and peer IT leaders in North America and at the Group level.
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Sets the mission and vision for the IT Infrastructure organization, fostering a business-oriented, technology-led culture and mindset driven by continual service improvement.
- Leads in the development and implementation of technological roadmaps, and ensures integration with the overall IT strategic plan.
- Works closely with IT peers and the CIO on the IT service portfolio and governance required to prioritize resources and budget.
- Serves as a trusted technological adviser to IT leaders and business stakeholders, ensuring IT services meet their needs, and respond with agility to address changing business priorities.
- Participates in the development and management of the annual operating expenditure and capital expenditure budgets to align investments with strategic plans.
- Maintains currency on emerging technologies and platforms, and provides direction on what technologies should be assimilated and/or integrated into the Infrastructure landscape.
- Participates in the development of the IT Infrastructure sourcing strategy; manages effective vendor and partner relationships.
- Builds, leads, and develops a capable IT workforce that aligns with current and future strategy.
- Designs and manages a modern and efficient network infrastructure supporting Rentokil’s extensive office footprint across North America.
- Ensures appropriate data backup mechanism and disaster recovery plans are in place and have been tested for recoverability.
- Designs and manages a highly virtual compute and storage environment that meets business needs for agility, cost-effectiveness, performance, and recoverability.
- Works collaboratively with the IT M&A team to bring new sites and services from acquired companies into central support and management.
- Ensures that security is embedded in all IT operations through appropriate application of information security tools, policies, practices, and oversight.
- Manages an ITIL focused end user support function providing level 1 service desk, level 2 application support, and level 2 end user device management (laptops, desktops, chromebooks, mobile devices).
- In conjunction with IT peers in North America and the UK, maintains IT Infrastructure in accordance with security standards.
- Effectively complies with Incident, Change, and Problem Management processes.
What do you need?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a related field - required
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field - preferred
- 12+ years of related experience - required
- 5+ years of Management Experience - required
- Experience operating in IT organizations as large as 100 employees, in companies with revenues at least $1B USD.
- Deep and broad technological experience, with a particular emphasis on emerging technologies such as Cloud, Automation, IoT.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and influencing senior management and peers in a matrixed organizational capacity.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills, including the ability to concisely explain technology solutions and business challenges in presentation format.
- Strong business acumen and clear understanding of business processes.
- Drives organizational change through partnering with others to identify opportunities for improvement and process enhancement.
- Ability to operate in complex, often ambiguous circumstances, with a high capacity for successfully multitasking, and managing multiple priorities.
- This is a full-time position. While the Director, IT Infrastructure & Operations will report to an office, occasional travel to North America sites may be required. There may be overnight travel required.
- Work Schedule: This job tends to have regular office hours but may have extended hours due to time-sensitive deadlines and time frames. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
- Must pass pre-employment background screen.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
